NORMENT "Starflowers"
|
|

In 1960 Sadie (HENRY) NORMENT, widow of Louis Tiffany Norment, said that these starflower bulbs had been in the Norment family for at least 150 years, perpetuated by generations of Norments. Another common name is "rain lilies" (Zephyranthes macrosiphon) for their habit of blooming shortly after each rain or watering. For preservation several bulbs were sent to Betty Robinson in Orlando FL, where they bloom year round. Here in Maryland they winter over indoors.
