The Sam and William you found in 1810 were brothers. They moved from CT
together. I have quite a bit of documentation on that. Sometime after 1820
Samuel moved from Washington Co. to Warren Co. (Warren was part of Washington until 1813. William was found in the 1850 Washington County, NY., census aged 83 and living with his son Lewis and family.
There was an article in the Boston Transcript, 3-20-1935, #9927 It stated that " there lived in Hartford, Washington, Co. , NY. William & Samuel Middleton, who , as I was told many years ago by an aged daughter of Samuel, were brothers." The 1810 & 1820 Washington Co. census bear this out. Both William & Samuel are listed on the same page.
I Franklin K. Bennett found William Middleton's grave stone today 6/20/1999 in the East Hartford cemetery. His stone was laying on the ground, and all that was visable of his name was "eton" the rest was grown over with sod (dirt & grass) I uncovered the stone and took photographs of it. The stone itself is still in excellent condition with rather large letters & numbers. The stone has the following written on it:

In Memory of
William Middleton
Who Died
March 15, 1851
In the 84 year
of his age
Dust to dust, ashes to ashes
but the spirit to God who gavith

William was probably the son of William and Abigail.
William was found in the 1850 Washington Co., NY census aged 83 and living with
his son Lewis and family.

There was an article in the Boston Transcript, 3-20-1935, #9927. It stated
that "there lived in Hartford, Washington Co., NY, William and Samuel
Middleton, who, as I was told many years ago by an aged daughter of Samuel,
were brothers." The 1810 and 1820 Washington Co. census bear this out, both a
William and a Samuel were listed on the same page.

William and his wife, Anna are buried in the East Hartford Cemetery.

NNA ----?:
There is a book entitled "Story of Hartford" in that book it lists the different generations of William Middleton, but one error that I found is William's wife. They show her name as "Anne", however her cemetery records and on her grave stone which I saw myself today, 6/20/1999 state that her name was "Anna". She is buried next to William Middleton, and her stone although still standing has suffered from the elements & is difficult to read. I took photographs of her stone. This cemetery in east Hartford, on Blood Street is no longer being maintained, the grass and brush are taking the cemetery over. What a shame that we should stand by and let the final resting place of our early settlers go slowly but surely back into nature to be forgotten forever. About half the stones in this cemetery are already down on the ground, and being consumed by mother earth. The following is written on Anna's stone:

Anna wife of William
Middleton died Feb. 10, 1829
In the 56th year of her age
Stop render now as you pass by
As you are now so once was I.

Samuel is buried in Middleton Cemetery in Warrensburg,NY
Much of the information concerning the descendants of Samuel and Nancy "Anne"
was found in the "Burrows Family" mentioned above.
Samuel is said to have moved to Washington Co, NY along with his brother,
William, between 1800 (when they were both listed in the New London, CT census)
and 1810 (when they were found in the Washington Co, NY census). They both
lived there until somewhere between 1820 and 1830 when Samuel is found in the
Warren Co,, NY census. Samuel died in Warren Co., and William died in
Washington Co.

Warren was a part of Washington Co., until 1813.

There was also a Benjamin(1814), Barnet Packer(1820), and Nathanial(1810)
Middleton in Warren Co. in 1859. The only
descrepency is that in the 1880 Warren Co, NY census it states that
Nathanial's parents were born in Ct. That is where Samuel was born so that
makes it a good assumption that Nathanial is the son of Samuel. But, according
to the same 1880 Warren Co., NY census
the parents of Barnett and William were born in NY. But FOR THE TIME BEING I am
listing these men
as sons of Samuel (William (1).They were all born in N.Y. and lived in Warren
Co., and AS FAR AS I KNOW Samuel was the only Middleton to move to Warren Co.

living with his family in 1850.

living with his family in 1850.

Susan was eighty-four and living alone in Horicone Township in 1900. She never
married.
