In clan tradition, my mother presented me to my Great Granduncle Frank Walker shortly after I turned 18. I'll never forget when he told me, "Child, you cannot know where you are going until you know who you are." His hands were severly crippled with arthritis. Careful of of the pain it caused, he gently cradled my hand in his. He then proceeded to tell me the most wonderous stories of his family... family.............

These trees are not here to claim descendency from someone famous. Uncle Frank wanted me to know my past so that I may decide for myself how I wish to be remembered in this world. These families were for the most part farmers cutting out new lives for themselves in America. They fought when necessary to protect their land and ensure their family's freedom in a country where they were not judged by their fathers and their fathers before them.

I could not have put this family tree together without the help of the following people. For your contributions, I thank you: Brad M, Vernon J, Marguarite B, Larry L, Diana D, Bonnie B, Sue P, Faye J, Julia H, Amanda B, Laura M, Ms. Morris, Shirley M, Rachel C, Jaymes S, G Lively, Cathy H, C Pitts, Joel Y, Les L, Janie, Jayne V, Lamar C, Frank B, Ron L, Cathy H, Sandra, David J, Shirley C, Barb C, Ed B, Wayne, Jarel A, Don P, Elaine W, Sue P, Louise V, Joan M, Rachel C, Karin O, Doris M, Louise V, Ozelle W, Brian L, Kelly W, Shirley S, Cliff B, Francis M, Jeff W, Ann P, Carol, Ann P, Gladys, D Bentley, Ozelle W, Bynum T, Frances M, Bryan L, Shirely S, Lori L, Cliff B, Betsy S, Marcella B, Edwin B, Betty B, Ruth J, Jennifer P, Marvin P, Sheena F, Imogene L, Lonnie S, Marie J, Jerry L, Joy S, Darlene L, Basil L and all of our cousins discussing their families on Genealogy Message Boards, along with those shared their piece of this puzzle with us...and most of all: Thank you Uncle Frank for instilling the desire to search deeper for my roots.

There is much speculation over the first seven generations of our Hatfield family. My files got merged and the result looks reasonable but is not verified or expressly documented. Use these files with doubt. I have not had the time to verify all the information. I did not do all this alone as you can see in the credits above and I do not have absolute verification of every individual included. Please try to verify these people before you include them in your own tree and declare this information factual. I cannot be responsible for incorrect content or any damages whatsoever as a result of using this information. I try to get my information as correct as reasonable.
There, that's the fine print stuff. :-)
There has been great difficulty sorting out and verifying which James Lindsay/ey of Alabama is the father of John William "Cap" Lindsay born 1825 in Sevier County, Tennessee. Any help on this person will be greatly appreciated.
