Values of $800 and $2000 are shown for personal and estate.

       James Franklin Waters enlisted in the Confederate Army May 2, 1862 as a Private in Co. "A", 50th Georgia Infantry regiment, and died in service (date and location unknown). His wife, Dicy Douglas, was granted a Confederate widow's pension.

       Appling Co., GA Deed: This indenture made the 29th day of Jan. 1908, between Eliza Anne Douglas, of the county of Appling, of the one part, and Mark Wilcox, James A. Douglas, John A. Douglas, John Q. Douglas, and Joel Q. Douglas, as trustees for Douglas Cemetery, or grave yard, and their successors, of the other part, WITNESSETH, that the said Eliza Anne Douglas, being desirous of providing a place for the burial of the descendants of the Douglas Family and particularly the descendants of Alexander Douglas, late of said county, and being the grandfather of the above named trustees as well as for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to her in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents does grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Mark Wilcox, James A. Douglas, John A. Douglas, John Q. Douglas, and Joel Q. Douglas, trustees as aforesaid, all of Two(2) acres, more or less, of lot of land number Four Hundred Nine(409) in the 5th district of Appling Co., GA, and covering the "Douglas Grave Yard" now on said lot of land near the home of party of the first part, in said county; and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at a stake on the Southwast corner of said tract of land and running in an Easterly direction three hundred and seventy five feet to a stake, thence in a Southern direction two hundred and twenty five feet to a stake and thence in a Western direction three hundred and seventy five feet to starting point.
       The object and purpose of this conveyance is to pass the title to the above described tract of land, to the above named trustees and their successors forever. Said land to be used for a cemetery and burial groung for the Douglas Family, and particularly the descendants of Alexander Douglas, late of said county, and the grandfather of the above named trustees, and for church purposes.
       That all matters pertaining to the control and management of said Cemetery, grave yard, or burial ground, and church, should one be built, to be left to the above named trustees, and their successors, a majority of whom shall constitute a quorum to transact any business relating thereto. That should there occur a vacancy, by death of one of the above named parties, or should one or more fail to serve, then the ramaining trustees shall have the right and authority to elect a successor.
       To have and to hold, the said bargain premises, with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereunto appertaining, to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of the said Mark Wilcox, James A. Douglas, John A. Douglas, John Q. Douglas, and Joel Q. Douglas, trustees, as aforesaid, and their successors, and against the said Eliza Anne Douglas, her heirs, executors and against all and every other person, or persons, shall and will warrant and defend, forever, by virtue of these presents.
       In witness whereof, the said Eliza Ann Douglas, has hereunto set her hand and affixed her seal, and delivered these presents, the day and year first above written. Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence of:

Note: Douglas Chapel Baptist Church was built adjoining the cemetery. They are located just off Nicholls Highway, a few miles from Alma, GA.
