John Walters wrote to his dad and mom -Moses and Mother walters on the first side of this letter, 
Elizabeth wrote the letter to the Walter family, but sent it to her mom and dad by mistake.  The next letter she writes, she asks her mom and dad to forward this letter to Moses and Mother Walters (which Leah did not)



Hiawatha Oct the 25th 1870

With pleasure I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to inform you that we are well Lizy has got home safe She arrived at St. Joseph on Wednesday at nine oclock too late for the St Jos Denver train staid in St Jo till thursdy morning I met her there and we come home thursdy the cars run off the track and smashed up two flat cars delayed us five hours we arrived at home at five oclock nobody was hirt the weather is fine here now and stalk is doin wel on the preries 
Our corn is dry enough to husk and some are at it I have not cribbed any yet the boys are all wel and their families Sis? Family is wel Leib and Sherman this is Kansas is the place yet for them I close for want of anything to write yours John Walters to Moses and Mother Walters

Dear friends I will write a few lines to let you know I am still hear yet I found the family all well and doing fine the girls kep house first rat Mrs Benn McCay has a yound son, two weeks olde I tell you Kansas is the place for me yet Oh I had a very pleasant visit the day you left Cresline, Mrs Boeid and I went over to Arters and had a fine visit and go ???supper and arrived at the train in time for travailing I was very sick on the train but Sherry stood the trip first rate we arrived home thursdya evening very tiered and on Saturday moring Aunt sent up for me come down Jacob little boy died on Saturday about 10 Oclock and was buried on Sunday, that is the reason I did no t write sooner you see I had not time Aunt and family are all well tell Mrs Hanawalt I brought my Peacock bush home all wright along with the rest of the things dad the clover seede came thrugh all right and no more freight to pay so the seed cost me seven dollars and fifty five sents $7.55 heare well I must close fro this time the girls kept house firs rate.
