This is an ongoing attempt to make a family research page that may be useful to all. I graciously thank Norman Berry for his time assisting me in this project. The material on this page is true to the best of my knowledge, but if you find any information that is questionable, please let me know.
In the early 1900's, James Charles Berry and Annie Leila Snipes Berry worked for the Vanderbilt's in the Biltmore Estate. Information is being collected about their employment there and will be available on this site soon. If you have any information that would aide this page, please feel free to e-mail me.
Also, many thanks to Ron Franklin, Joy Rodgers and Truett Martin for contributions of some of the photos. They are priceless.

From Truett- I noticed this picture in the old family photo album. It's the Laughridge kids and I believe the boy is Ray, Jimmy's father. When I made the video of Aunt Azilee looking through the album, she told one of the most poignant stories I've ever heard. The three girls were her playmates and they all died of diphtheria in a matter of days. Aunt Az said she watched from the hill as a horse-drawn wagon carried the coffin of one of the girls to Abee's Grove for burial. None of the Berry's could go near them as the disease was contagious. When the family returned from the funeral, another of girls had died. I recall her getting misty. The graves of the three lie in the next row where the Berry's lie at Abee's Grove.
