John Otis (son of John Otis and Mary Jacobs) was born September 21, 1657 in Hingham, MA, and died September 23, 1727 in Barnstable, MA. He married Mercy Bacon on July 18, 1683 in Barnstable, MA, daughter of Nathaniel Bacon and Hannah Mayo.
Notes for John Otis: The Honorable John Otis was Representative of General Court for 20 years; Committee of Militia of the County for 18 years; Chief Justice of Court of Common Pleas for 13 years; and first Judge of Probate. In 1706 he was chosen one of His Majesty's Council and sat at that honorable board for 21 years. A gentleman of distinguished talents, of powerful wit, great affability, sagacity, prudence and piety, an assemblage of the virtues hard to be matched in these later days.
