Notes for Samuel Hinckley: Samuel Hinckley came to Scituate 1634 in Hercules with Capt. John Wethersby, 102 emigrants. He was a liberal who had to swear conformity to Episcopate in order to get away. One son, Thomas, b. 1618, who came with him was Governor of Massachusetts nine years. Samuel was twice indicted for entertaining strangers, probably Quakers.
