I would like to dedicate this home page to my great-great-grandfather, Peter F. GALE, born in 1814 in North Carolina. I am searching for his parents and any siblings.
Peter F. GALE married Mary JONES (b. 1807) in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee, on September 15, 1838. The Weakley County Census of 1850 lists his property value as 200 dollars. His property was near Gleason, TN. In 1850, he and Mary have six children living with them - five natural children and perhaps a step child (Mary was seven years older than Peter when they married) or a younger sister. The natural children are (in birth order): Julius F. (b. 1839), William (b. 1841), Martha (b. 1845), Sarah Palina Caroline (b. 1847), and Margaret (8 mos. old in 1850). Eliza Gale (b. 1830) may be Peter's younger sister, as she is listed as having a value of thirty dollars.

Please contact me if you have any information on the Gale family in North Carolina. Happy Hunting!

Family Photos

  • King Charlottie (Lottie) Roush's Wedding Photo (12 KB)
This is Lottie just before her wedding to Dudley Julius Gale. Note that her picture appears on a badge on his suit in his own wedding photo.
  • Dudley Julius Gale's Wedding Photo (8 KB)
Here is Dudley's wedding photo. In a better version, you can see the button on his suit, which is Lottie's photograph.
  • The Old Home Place in Peace Valley (39 KB)
This is a recent photo of the house that most of Dudley and Lottie's children were born in. It is still occupied. Grandpa Roush and Grandma Gale lived with Dudley, Lottie, and the children for several years. It's a very small house for that many people!
