During one spring when William Jennings Bryan came into prominence singing of free and unlimited coinage of silver at the ration of16 to 1, was held the birthday dinner on the day that Uncle Jackie was 100 years old. Uncle Jackie joked all the candidates that summer and two years later, it is said, by asking such questions as"How many other 100 year old voters have you electioneered?" (This article was taken from the Salem Post in the early 1930's.)
