The surnames that we are researching are: Bertocci, Tamas, Craig, Oliver, and Janosik. Foreign countries and cities of interest are: Italy (city of Onano); and Hungary (city of Forro). This homepage starts with the Bertocci and Craig surnames. I am Robert P. Bertocci and my wife is Patricia A. Craig

The link below shows the wedding picture of my parents,my father Ralph Bertocci and my mother Hazel Thomas. Her birth name was Gizella Tamas (which is Hungarian). She was born in the United States, but her oldest brother, Steve, and her sister Mary were born in Forro, Hungary. A younger brother, Lewis, was also born in Forro, Hungary. The youngest brother, Ernest was born in the United States. It is evident the family did extensive traveling between the two places.

Patricia's parents,Ralph Craig and Ethel May Oliver are shown in the picture in the link below. Ralph Craig and Ethel May Oliver were residents of Greenville, Ohio, in Darke County. Most of the family research is centered in that area.

A picture from our wedding is shown in the link below. We were both born in Ohio; Bob in Toledo and Pat in Greenville. But met and were married in Santa Monica, California.

Family Tree Maker's Family Archives, Volume 1
A Bertocci Family Tree was submitted in 1995 to Family Tree Maker. It is included in Volume 1 and is Tree#1924. At that time it had 757 individuals. Currently the Tree has 1233 individuals. An updated Family Tree has not yet been submitted.

Hungarian Research
My maternal grandparents and some my uncles and my aunt were born in Forro, Hungary (See link below for map). The town is located north-east of Budapest. The Morman Family History Center in Salt Lake City has microfilm of the Roman Catholic Church in Forro which includes birth, death and marriages from early 1700's to the 1890 time period. This was where I researched and obtained most of my information concerning the Hungarian side of my heritage. The family tree (see link below) is based on that information and shows my mother's ancesters.

Italian Research
My father Ralph (Rafaele) Bertocci was born in Onano,Italy (See link below for map). Finding information about my Italian ancestors was not as successful in the Morman Family History Center in Salt Lake City as it was for my Hungarian ancestors. My wife and I did visit Onano during a trip to Italy, but the visit was too short to do any research.

At the Morman Family History Center I was able to find information on his arrival in the United States at Ellis Island. We found the ship's manifest on microfilm and made copies. The ship he sailed on was the S. S. Aquitania arriving at New York on 2 Oct 1920. He listed his father as Antonio Bertocci of Onano, Italy. He sailed from Cherbourg.

We have had his name listed on the Ellis Island Immigrant Wall of Honor (see link below and enter his name).
My maternal grandfather's name is also inscribed on the Wall. He is listed with Hungarian and American versions of his name "Istvan (Steve Thomas) Tamas".
