William H. Bess, Sr. and Rebecca (Hamilton) Bess of Virginia had 10 children, two of them moved to WV. (1) Nash L. Bess to Kanawha Co. (2) William H. Bess, Jr. to Putnam Co. They also had two grandchildren that moved (1) Nash Leslie Bess, Sr. to Nicholas Co. and (1) John C. Bess to Fayette Co. WV.

William H. Bess, Jr. and Mary A. (Moses) Bess, son of William H. Bess, Sr. and Rebecca (Hamilton) Bess and Mary is the daughter of William H. Moses and Isabelle (Hill) Moses. William and Mary arrived in Putnam Co. WV. Some time before the birth of their son William D. Bess in 1844. He is shown as a shoemaker and a farmer living on a farm on Popular Fork Rd. east of Cow Creek Rd. This farm is still known as The Bess Farm.

Nash L. Bess is the next one we found in WV. His grandson Charles L. Bess b. July 30, 1865 in Kanawha Co. WV.

Nash Leslie Bess is next, his grandson Arby Franklin Bess b. Sep 03, 1903 Nicholas Co. WV.

John C. Bess is next with his granddaughter being the first record I have found in WV. Anne Laura Bess b. Oct 25, 1910 in Fayette Co. WV.
