Milton- William Bevins, Formerly of  This Place, Seriously Injured.
William Bevins, a Milton boy, whose mother and brother now resides here, is in
the hospital at New London, Conn., suffering from a dislocated shoulder and crushed foot,
the result of a fall between the cars on the New York, New Haven, & Hartford railroad,
where he has been a freight conductor for some time. In climbing from a flat to a box car
the top rung of the ladder came off in his hand and Bevins dropped just far enough
outside the rail so that one foot was caught and crushed, his shoulder dislocated, and other
severe bruises suffered. He was not missed for some time and for nearly two hours vainly
tried to signal passing trains but was too weak to attract attention. He was near collapse
when seen by a passenger engineer and taken to New London hospital where his condition
is as favorable as could be expected.
