Henry was a son of John Philip Shoe, who first appears in Guilford county in 1779 (earlier records were burned by the British). "Philip" Shoe had a large family that moved to Wilkes County, NC about 1800, but son Henry Shoe stayed behind. He married Catharina Shatterly in 1802 and had a daughter Catherine. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Coble in 1809 and had Millie, Philip, John Peter, John William, Gideon, Elinor "Nelly", and Sally. Henry married a 3rd time in 1842 to Eve Farmer.

His children stayed in Guilford County, and the name was almosy always spelled Shoe. His siblings who moved west generally changed their name to Shew.

Let me know your interests, as I have more on all of them.

iii.   Rebecca INGOLD, married John Peter SHOE 05 Mar 1841 in Guilford Co, NC.

      24. Peter PATRUM, born Abt. 1775; died Aft. 1840.

Notes for Peter PATRUM:
Peter is the first and only PATRUM in the Orange/Guilford/Alamance area in the 1800 Census through 1840. The children assigned to him are a collection of PATRUM's apparently connected through marriage records, although some may be cousins rather than siblings. Further proof is needed, but I am using this spot to list the connections of all the PATRUM's and BISHOP's of Alamance Co.

Peter PATRAM is the only person with any derivation of that surname listed in 1820, 1830, or 1840 North Carolina.

In the 1850 Alamance Co, NC Census, Henry (30) and Henrietta (24) PATRAM are listed with son John A. (1).

On the next page (1850 Alamance) is John (43) and Betsey (43) PATRAM, who are listed as living with a 10 year old girl named Mississippi BISHOP. Two houses away, Lot BISHOP and his wife Elizabeth (PATRUM) are listed with their large family.

***********************************************************************************************************************

Lat BISHOP is bonded to marry Elizabeth PATRUN on 29 Jan 1828 in Guilford Co, NC. John PATRUN is the bondsman.

The next day, on 30 Jan 1828, John PATRUN is bonded to marry Elizabeth LANKFERD. George LANKFERD is the bondsman.

On 13 Apr 1842 in Guilford Co, Archibald D. PATERAM is bonded to marry Eliza SHELTON. Henderson PATERAM is the bondsman and William COBLE is the witness. Arch and Eliza later move to TN.

Henderson PATERAM and Retter LANKFORD are bonded to be married 25 Jan 1849. Lat BISHOP is the bondsman and William COBLE is the witness.

************************************************************************************************

Children of Peter PATRUM are:
12 i.   Henderson PATRUM, born Abt. 1819 in NC; died Aft. 1870; married Henrietta LANKFORD 25 Jan 1849 in Guilford Co, NC.
ii.   John PATRUM47, born Abt. 1805 in NC48; married Elizabeth LANKFERD 1828 in Orange Co, NC; born 1807 in NC48.
  Notes for John PATRUM:
In the 1850 Southern Division Guilford Co, NC Census, John (45) and Betsey (43) have Mississippi BISHOP (10) living in there home. Lot BISHOP and his wife Elizabeth PATRUM BISSHOP are listed on the same page with eight other kids.

In the 1860 Guilford Co, NC Census, John (54) and Betsey (52) PATRAM are living with a Sarah (40) PATRAM and an Emily C. CLAPP (6).

In 1870 Coble Alamance Co, NC, John (60) PATRAM [transcribed PATRONE] lives with the family of Henderson and Henrietta. Betsey has apparently died. I don't know if John and Betsey ever had children of their own.

  Notes for Elizabeth LANKFERD:
How is Elizabeth LANKFERD related to Henrietta LANKFORD ?

iii.   Archibald D. PATRUM49, born Abt. 1821 in NC; married Eliza SHELTON.
  Notes for Archibald D. PATRUM:
Arch moved to TN, according to a fellow researcher who thought his ancestor was Archibald Henderson PATRUM. However, Henderson was the bondsman for the marriage of Archibald D. PATERAM to Eliza SHELTON on 13 Apr 1842, so they are most likely brothers.

  iv.   Elizabeth "Betsey" PATRUM49, born Abt. 1803 in NC50; died Bet. 1856 - 186051; married Lot BISHOP 29 Jan 1829 in Guilford Co, NC52; born Abt. 1807 in NC53; died Bet. 1856 - 186054.
  Notes for Lot BISHOP:
In the 1830 Orange Co, NC Census, Lott Bishop is listed.

In the 1840 Chatham Co, NC Census, Lot BISHOP is listed.

In the 1850 Alamance Co, NC Census, Lot BISHOP and Elizabeth are listed with eight kids.

In 1860 Alamance, M.R. (Mordicai) BISHOP (30) is head of house hold. Living with him are a female listed as " E", who is probably his sister Elizabeth (Betsy from the 1850 Census), and a 3 year old girl with the initial L or F. The younger girl is most likely another sister. Also in 1860, listed two pages away, is Chris BISHOP (25) and his wife Julia (23). They have Mary (4) and William (1). So, the parents Lot and Elizabeth have presumably died within the last four years (assuming the young girl with M.R. BISHOP is his sister).

  v.   Mary PATRUM55, born Abt. 1814 in NC55
  Notes for Mary PATRUM:
In 1870 Alamance, just a couple of houses away from Henderson and Henrietta "PATRONE", is head of household Mary PATRAM (56), along with Sarah PATRAM (58) and Artelia (22) PATRAM. These may be sisters, or widowed sister in laws. Artelia may be a niece, daughter of one of the widows.

The 1880 Patterson, Alamance Co, NC Census again lists these three ladies. Mary (68) is head of household, Sarah (71) is a sister, and Artilia (40) is a daughter. One would think that Mary is a widow of a PATRUM if Artilia is also a PATRUM, which would make Sarah an unmarried sister-in-law.

Because a Sarah PATRAM (40) is living with John and Betsey PATRAM in 1860 Guilford, I am assuming she is the same Sarah living with Mary in 1870. As such, she is probably an unmarried sister of John and Henderson. Mary is possibly the widow of a PATRAM brother, and Artelia PATRAM may be her daughter.

vi.   Sarah PATRUM55, born Abt. 181255
vii.   Artelia PATRUM55, born Abt. 184855
