| Looking for ancestors, not decendants, of HENRY EWALT BEDFORD(b. 1859, d. 1942) m. Carlotta STEWART (b. 1870, d. 1933). Henry Ewalt was born in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. He drove a herd of sheep to Texas. The entire herd of sheep drown in the San Marcos river. He then became a stagecoach driver. He met Carlotta Stewart in Twohig, Tx (aka Dogtown, Tx). Carlotta is the daughter of "PEG-LEG" Stewart. Carlotta was born in Lorado, Tx. J. Frank Dobie has written about Pegleg Stewart in one of his books. Pegleg ran the stage stop in Twohig, Tx. I am looking for information on the parents of Henry Ewalt Bedford and any of his siblings. I am trying to trace the family line back to England. It may be that Henry Ewalt Bedford is the son of Henry Bedford and Mary Ewalt. They may be decendants of Henry Bedford and Eleanor Buchner. Prior to this I only have possible lineage to surname Benjamin, Littleberry Bedford, and then Thomas. Many of the siblings of my grandfather, Sam Ewalt Bedford, contain middle names such as: Ewalt, Buckner, Stewart, Bullis, Rice. These middle names are believed to be surnames of ancestors. I am also interested in any information about Pegleg Stewart. The name of the town, Twohig, has been changed. It is located near Cotulla, Tx. I believe the town is now called Tilden. |
