Notes for SIMONEARSOM: Source 11/22/1999 from Anthony Di Stenfano: from Charlotte Couzantino: The orginal Simon Earsom land "stake" in Hampshire County was a land grant from Lord Fairfax. It was very large. The property is between Romney and Springfield, W. VA. and runs along the north/west side of the river. There is a cemetery halfway up the mountain in an area that was ravaged by floods about 1988.
Of interest: The Earsom fought for both the north and south during the Civil War. They ran a ferry in W. VA. besides being farmers. There is a documented story of an Earsom family being killed by Indians. The Humes line (Jane Humes Earsom), can be traced back to royalty in Scotland and an early English King.
Variations of the Earsom name: Earsom; Earsome; Earson; Earsam; Earsham; Airson; Ahrsam; Ihrsom; Ireson; Ohrsom; Easham; or Eassom. After the early 1800's it's mostly Earsom/Earson. Children of SIMONEARSOM andCATHERINEEARSOM are:
