Notes for LOUIS F. WAKEMAN: Lewis Budd Wakeman joined the Yankee navy in 1855, rank Sail maker. He served until the end of the war and resigned in 1865 in New Orleans where he and the family lived for some time. He continued to make sails on his own account. In the 1880s he took a job as the skipper on a Light ship located in the sound off the LA/MS coast. In 1885 he was struck by lightning while on duty and needless to say he never was the same after.
