Definition;
The Descendants of Thomas Clarkston & Nellie Feathers online family research project is intended to be an extension of the hard-bound book, "Bonds of Union, vol 1, Descendants of Thomas Clarkston 1787-1858" that Gloria Kay VanDiver Inman published in 1980. This current work has continued long past that book, and this work is to be considered an update of the earlier work. Everything that was in the original work is included here(and corrected to the best of our ability). This project has expanded by leaps and bounds since we went online. It also includes some research done on other Clark/Clarkston/Clarkson lines in an effort to find connections that might correctly identify parents of the subject, Thomas Clarkston and his wife, Nellie Feathers.
Declaration of intent;
To share genealogical data collected on all Clark/s/ton variations collected over thirty years of research. This database contains not only our direct ancestors, but a few allied lines and unrelated lines gathered in the course of many years of research. It is our intention that any researcher using this material, use it as “CLUES” for them to find and document their own lines. It is our intention to share freely anything and everything gathered and/or gleaned … and plead with the recipients that they do the same. Genealogy and family history should not, in our opinion, EVER be used “for profit” or personal gain.
Disclaimer;
The research data and index are contained almost entirely within the "Book" feature of this web site. Those lines that are NOT in the direct line of our ancestors are 'as is' and come with no guarantee of any kind.
Privacy Issues;
The privacy of living individuals is always a major concern. While our database does contain younger generations, every effort is made to eliminate sensitive information about anyone born after 1930, which is the NEW US Census standard (as of April 2, 2002). If you see that I have breeched this self-imposed rule, please call it to my attention as soon as is reasonably possible.
The Inevitable Errors:
We will be MORE than happy to correct any errors that are brought to our attention and (hopefully) supported with some type of documentation.
Acknowledgement;
The research respresented herein includes contributions from many descendants of Thomas Clarkston and wife Nellie Feathers, along with help from others researching the Clark, Clarkston, Clarkson, and Claxton family names. However this work would not have been possible if not for the 30 plus year labor of love by Gloria Kay VanDiver Inman. Words do not do justice to describe her dedication and commitment to the research of the families represented herein but one can come to appreciate in a small way those efforts when time is taken to browse through this work. Gloria Kay has chosen to take a more advisory role in this continuing work and has turned over the maintenance of the online work to Elton Bingham. Gloria Kay will continue to answer emails as she loves to hear from her "cousins" and she will contribute data as she continues her research activities, but her efforts will be as a contributor from this point forward.
