Notes for BERTHA C. ROSE: Obituary: Bertha C. Demkosky, 78, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Wednesday at the Osprey Ridge Health Care Center. She was the wife of John J. Demkosky. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Anna (Graff) Rose, she was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church. Also surviving are three daughters and two sons, Mary Ann Demkosky, Helen McGreevy and Karen Walton, John and Edward, all of Scranton; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. The funeral will be Saturday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with Mass at 10 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, South Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Notes for JOHN J. DEMKOSKY: Obituary: John J. Demkosky, November 13, 2003 John J. Demkosky, 84, a longtime resident of Scranton, died Thursday in the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County at Community Medical Center after an illness. His wife, the former Bertha C. Rose, died June 9, 1999. Born and raised in Dunmore, son of the late Edward and Mary Budzak Demkosky, he was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Shopa-Davey Post 6082, Peckville. Before retirement, he was employed by Poloron Products. He was a loving father who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and sitting on his porch listening to polkas on the radio. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann Demkosky, Helen M. McGreevy and Karen Walton, all of Scranton; two sons, John and Edward, both of Scranton; three brothers, Walter, Reading; Joseph, Dunmore; and Chester, Scranton; a sister, Marie Scalsky, Fredricksburg, Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank, and a sister, Helen Gruttadauria. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
