This is the job I was famous in my family for. They taught me to drive a train in the plant. I loved doing it and never derailed. I was an operator and a pumper working eighty hours a week for $10.70 hour plus overtime and on call. Good pay for the time period. Good pay for women any day.
I was just a young woman working at a chemical plant in Houston, Texas. After being on site during two plant explosions and the death of my coworkers, and running from chlorine twice, this single mom got out of "Dodge" and found something else to do. Barbara
