We are researching the ancestors of both Gregory Blake and Maria Paulus, and we have had considerable success adding new information to our family trees. An exhaustive list of all the surnames we are researching would be very large for this page, but we have made them available on our other homepage. Gregg's background is primarily English, with some Prussian, Scotch-Irish, Hugenot French and a little Dutch for good measure. His ancestors immigrated to North America as early as 1620, and as late as the 1850s, settling in Massachusetts, Plymouth Bay Colony, New Haven Colony, New Netherlands, Pennsylvania, and Virginia with the later arrivals in Kansas. The predominant surnames include Blake, Puckett, Staatz, Frampton, Riggle (Singleton), Martin, Tippit, and Moffitt. Maria's background is mostly French, Belgian, Luxembourgois, Swiss, German (Oldenburg, Hesse, and Baden), and English--a Continental mixture. Her English (and some German) ancestors were in North America before the Revolution, though most of her ancestors arrived in the mid-1800s. She had ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, and ancestors who fought in the French Revolution. Her forefathers and mothers came by different routes, but eventually they arrived in western Ohio, in the counties of Darke, Shelby, and Mercer. The predominant surnames in her ancestry include Paulus, Francis (François), Chambers, Severin, Baltes, Poly, Phlipot, and Didier. Please e-mail us if you have any information on these names, or if you have any questions we may be able to answer. Thanks for visiting! |
