Welcome to my Home Page. I have been researching my family for about 20 years now mainly on my Father's side who all originate from towns and villages on the edge of the South Lincolnshire Fens, with one notable exception.

I have also done some research on my Mother's family from Stowmarket in Suffolk and also around Quarry Bank in the Black Country, with more successful results in rural Suffolk.

I am grateful for the assistance of various other researchers over the years who have provided information which has helped me put the framework of the tree together and enabling me to identify those individuals in the tree who have had an influence in their families lives and also in some cases in their local community.

I live in Spalding, Lincolnshire and am more than happy to assist others researching local families as often as not there will be a connection with mine somewhere.

If you recognise any names or can provide answers to the many unanswered questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

I have added a report which is called Birthplaces of Individuals, which should make it easier for you to see whether my geographical areas of research are the same as yours without having to check each name in the index.

Please note I have made every effort to protect the living, but if you see your name in my database and wish it to be removed, please contact me and I will take immediate action.

*Update 21 June 2004.

I now have a copy of the Whaplode Drove Parish Registers which I am slowly transcribing. I will be adding further names of those families which tie in with mine, as these links become apparent and can be logically proven. Not all Whaplode Drove families were related to mine - although it seems like it at times. If you have an interest in the Village which is not shown, then it is either because there is no link or because I am aware of another researcher who has in interest.

If you would like me to check my transcriptions, please feel free to ask.

* Update 7 January 2005.

Following the release of online UK census information for 1871 and 1891 as well as the existing 1881 and 1901 censuses, I have reviewed these and have identified various individuals on my Tree and have added their wives and children. Naturally, this means that the number of "Unknown" maiden name wives have increased, but I have shown their years and places of birth taken from the census information. If you can provide a surname for any "Miss Unknown", please feel free to contact me.

Update 27 October 2005

As a result of yet more online material becoming available for remote research, I have been able to - with the appreciated help of others - start to make some sense of my maternal Grandmother's family from the Black Country. This is the area of England on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire border, to the west of Birmingham. This was where the Industrial revolution probably really started, and was the home to many industries which caused so much pollution that the name "Black Country" stuck owing to the high density of chimneys in the area.

Any new discoveries in my Lincolnshire have also been added.

*Update 25 June 2006

With all census information now available on line, this update includes much more census information for existing family members, and new ones found as a result of census searches. Work on the Black Country families and Suffolk families has progressed at a good pace, as well as those in Lincolnshire.

Useful Links

I have added some of the websites which I consider to be important elements of research in the areas where my ancestors roamed. The sites listed are the main one's and the list is by no means exhaustive. A Google Search can often find many more.
