| I am looking for information on Malcolm Black (abt. 1690), his wife Catherine Mcarthur (abt. 1694), their ancestors and descendants. According to LDS records they had the following sons: John Black Abt. 1720, Archibald Black Abt. 1722, Alexander Black Abt. 1724, Hugh Black Abt. 1726, William Black Abt. 1728, Kenneth Black 1730. They were all born on Isle Of Jura, Scotland. Sometime between 1730 and 1757 the family moved to North Carolina. Archibald settled in Cumberland County, North Carolina near the Cape Fear River. Hugh and Kenneth settled in Moore County, NC. Archibald's son Malcom Black, Sr. was born in Robeson or Cumberland County, NC. Malcom Black, Sr. married Sarah (we think her maiden name was Ray or maybe Daye). He moved his family to Greene County, MS (now George County near the unincorpated township of Leaf, also reffered to as Mc Leods or Advent on some maps). Malcom Black, Sr. son Malcom Black, Jr. born abt. 1811 in NC died abt. 1865 in Greene County, MS Malcom, Jr. married Louisa Breland. Malcom Black, Jr.'s son John Vinson Black was born in Leaf, MS and married Margrett Cowart. John Vinson Black's son Malcom Knox Black was born March 12,1870 and died in 1947 in Leaf, MS.
