William Blunt and Lucy Marshall Blunt of Johnston Co., N. C.Updated April 14, 2004 | |
William Blunt ( - 1825) served in the Revolutionary war with a North Carolina unit. After the war, the couple started their family in Johnston Co., N.C. By 1800 the family had moved to in Warren Co., GA. By 1807, when the county was formed, the family settled in Jones Co., GA. By 1824 in Jones County, the adult children seem to have adopted the more conventional southern spelling of Blount, which it retains today. After William's death, his widow, Lucy Marshall Blunt, was provided a Beneficiary Draw in the 1827 Georgia Gold Lottery as a Revoltionary heir. After Lucy's death, about age 90, in 1849, the Blount family began settling in various parts of Georgia, Alabama and Texas. By 1900, a large part of that family had moved to Texas and beyond. Another large part remained in Georgia. The purpose of this homepage is to seek, find and bring together information for this family, its descendants, and its ancestors.
