* The Gerald Bleser Family Home Page*

Updated September 5, 2000

I am researching the Bleser family name. My father, Nicholas John Bleser, was born in Montreal, Québec, Canada in 1916. His father was a German accountant who came to Canada via Scotland, England and Germany (I'm not sure of the chronological order of time spent in these three countries before he and my grandmother permanently emigrated to Montreal). My father's three brothers were born before the family arrived in Canada: Frank (born in Germany I think), Magnus ( born in England?) and Arnold (born in Scotland?). Nicholas' wife was from Glasgow, Scotland. She was brought up with the family name of Osborn(e). Her father was originally named Cohen but had the family name changed to Osborn(e).
I believe that my grandmother's first name was Jane.
My grandmother and grandfather must have arrived in Canada prior to WW I as my father was born here in 1916 but I do not have any certainty as to the exact year in which they arrived in Canada.
My grandfather, Nicholas Bleser, was the only son in a family of thirteen children. My grandmother's family ran a prosperous business in Glasgow. I believe that the business may have involved recycling of used metals but I am not sure.
My father and his three brothers as well as my grandparents are all dead. During WW II contact was lost with both the Scottish and German sides of the family although I believe that my father visited his Scottish relatives while stationed in England during the war.
I would be very grateful to anyone who could help me locate any of my European relatives.
