Hello Fellow Genealogy Enthusiasts! My name is John Block and I am researching my ancestors in Missouri and in Germany. Fraternal names I am researching include: Block, Ahring, Sander, Grothaus, Homeyer/Homeier, Luhring/Lyring, Hartman, Wilkening, Brockmann, Raven/Raben, Blume, and Staffhorst. Conrad Block, my immigrant ancestor, came to the U.S. in 1861 from Husum, Hannover, Germany. He married Dorothea Homeyer, whose parents had also immigrated from Husum, Hannover, Germany at an earlier date. Most of my fraternal ancestors were from Hannover and all immigrated to Gasconade County, Missouri. Maternal names I am researching include: Ploeger, Hanke/Hankemeier, Saak/Saach, Steffen, Aufderhaar, Fiegenbaum, Lieneke, Dothage, Hagen, Groteguth, Vogelsang, Kriege, Hobblemann, Schowe, Grotholtman, Horstmeyer, Hoberg, Lenninger, Schneidermeier, Potthast and Dowe. My Maternal ancestors hailed mostly from Westphalia, with a smattering from Lippe-Detmold. All of my Maternal immigrant ancestors settled in Warren County, Missouri. I have 24 direct ancestors buried in a 5 mile radius in Warren County, MO!!! Would be most interested to communicate with anyone researching any of these names to exchange information. I would be willing to share and collect information on your ancestors that immigrated to Warren County or Gasconade County, Missouri. It has been very interesting to discover what a mecca Warren County Missouri was for German Immigrants from Westphalia; particularly from Ladbergen and the surrounding area. Molly and Macy Kaye Block - Christmas 1999 (20 KB) Daughters of Jim and Linda (Maupin) Block Conrad & Dora (Homeyer) Block -Wedding Certificate (78 KB) Conrad and Dora (Homeyer) Block were married by F. Drewel at St. Pauls Church in Bay, MO (Gasconade) on April 4, 1865. Ahring familiy circa 1910 (67 KB) The William H. Ahring family at home near Tea, MO (Gasconade) St. Jacobi Evg. Lutheran Church in Husum, Hannover (59 KB) Most of our Block ancestors attended church at St. Jacobi Evangelical Lutheran. The previous church burned to the ground in 1734 and the church records were lost prior to that time. Families that attended this church in the Block Genealogy were: Block, Luhring, Homeyer, Kahle and many others. Twins Louis and August Block born May 15, 1886 (23 KB) Louis and August Block were the last living descendants of Conrad Block. August died in 1955, Louis died in 1970.
