Notes for Abner George Klees:
Abner George Klees was a Civil War Veteran. He enlisted three times; First on September 1862 in the Pennsylvania State Militia for a period of two weeks. This time he saw no active seevice. The second time he enlisted at Harrisburg, PA on the June 18, 1863 in Company G, 27th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia. This time he nearly was in the battle of Gettysburg, but the burning of the bridge at Wrightsville, PA left his company stranded on the east side of the Suaquehanna River. He enlisted a third time on August 7, 1864 in Company C, 5th Regiment Pennsylvania Cavalary Volunteers, which belonged to Kautz's Division Cavalary of the Army of the Potomac. Some of the engagments in which he particapated in are as follows:
      Front of Richmond, VA (on Darbytown Road) September 29. October 3, 7, 13, 26, and December 10, 1865
      Dinwiddie Court House, VA March 31, 1865
      Five Forks, VA April 1, 1865. Here he had his horse shot out from under him.
      Appomattax Court House, VA April 9, 1865
      He was discharged at Richmond, Va on May 19, 1865.
