The family research begins with Bridget Flanagan, born in County Cork, Ireland in 1821 to Mary Flanagan, born in 1799. Bridget became pregnant at a young age while being single, and moved to England with her mother, where she met and married an East Indian from Calcutta, India who adopted the English name of Francis Allen and together they had nine children that we know of at this time, Agnes Anastasia Allen was one of three children born in England, in July 1841. The family migrated to America August 24, 1848, arriving in Philadelphia, Pa., where they settled in the vicinity of West Philadelphia Ward #4, Philadelphia, Pa. Bridget & Frank Allen had nine (9) children in all, three (3) was born in England and six (6)was born in Philadelphia. Agnes met and married William D. Brown and they settled in Philadelphia with Agnes's sister Mary Jane Allen residing with them, the marriage produced two daughters, Evelyn Gertrude Brown and Laura Emma Brown, the later met and married Jerome Watson Montier, and that marriage produced four children, Maude Anastasia Montier, Edna E. Montier, Helen Marie Montier, and a son named Hiram Jerome Montier. After Agnes Brown's husband passed away, she met and married an East Indian named Henry W. Martin, who had served on a British Naval Ship and had jumped ship while at an American Port (Location Unknown) at the tender age of 14 years of age, this marriage produced four children, Ameila (Emma) Martin, who later married Charles Williams, Sr., Walter Raleigh Martin, William Caladassa Martin and Minerva (Minnie) Martin who related the story of her father jumping ship.
