1. Names and birth dates of James' children were taken from pages found in family Bible of Chesley Hood Boatright (b. 25 Nov 1797). Photocopies of these pages were obtained by R. G. Boatright in January, 1967, from Lorene Miller Wallace, great-granddaughter of Jacob Gates Boatright. It was this information that allowed Robert Guy finally to establish his connection to James.

2. After Elizabeth died, James married Mary Kidd, Elizabeth's sister.

- 1782, Certificate 67-2165: 1 Aug 1781, James Boatright for supplies or service furnished to the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
- 1784, Certificate 67-2764: The Commonwealth of Virginia is indebted to James Boatwright for the delivery of thirty-one and three-quarter pounds of Bacon to be discharged at Twenty dollars per pound..Ben Wilson, DC.

5. 1782...James Boatright listed as living in Cumberland Co. on Personal Property and Land Tax records.

6. Research by Ron Boatright, Orange City, FL has developed some strong circumstantial evidence that James' father was 'BENONI', b. ~1710.
