Mary Wilson (b. 1684, d. 1766)
Notes for Mary Wilson:
Note:
Samuel and Mary, with two little daughters, set out for a three month sail for the new world in 1714. Their son, James, was born on board ship. They stayed for a few years in Lyme, Conn., where a second son was born. In 1721 they bought land in Hebron, Conn. (Be sure to read notes on Mary. Quite a woman!)
Several Family Trees record a "James" being born in England and dying 18 days after birth.
From "IMMIGRANTS TO NEW ENGLAND, 1700-1775": PENNOCK, Samuel, Lyme, Conn; from London, with Capt. Moses Thomas, April, 1714, with a wife and three children: warned from Boston August 17, 1714.--Boston Rec. Com., Vol. 11, p.215.

BIOGRAPHY: After Samuel died Mary, at the age of 82, made her way two hundred miles up the Connecticut River into the wilderness following the trail of her children, Hanna, James and William, where they were the first settlers of that area. She joined them at Strafford, VT. To follow the same route today and observe the extremly rugged terrain and consider the conditions she had to travel with: one wonders how she could have possibly made the trip at age 82. Mary [Wilson] Pennock, a gallant figure indeed.
