William Bobbitt Jr. inherited the land that was the ordinal land grant given to his father William Bobbit of Wales.
He sold the 96 acres in 1711 and brought more land in Prince George County, Virginia near Rocky Run.
His wife Mary Green was the sister of Sarah Green who married William's brother John Bobbitt of Chown.
William was a tobacco farmer and member of the Church of England

John Bobbitt and his family arrived in North Carolina in 1718 after receiving a land grant of 600 acres in Chowan Precinct, Bertie County,North Carolina.
Chowan Precinct was known as early as 1668 as Salesbury Precinct of Albemarle County.
It was renamed Chowan Precinct about 1685.
