This is a copy of a letter taken from the Bible of Alferd R. Bobbitt,August 1980.
"My Grandfathers name was Randolph Bobbitt. He packed through on horseback from Virginia to Kenton Co. Ky. My father was a small boy. His name was James. He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters as folks. William. John,Gasner, Lucinda, Mary, these were the first set of children.
Second set; Eliza and Joseph. My father moved from Kentucky to Marion Co. Indiana then to Fremont Co. Iowa 1849. I was in my 17th year. We have lived here ever since.
I was the middle child of 11 children and the only one living 5 older and 5 younger dead, was 80, 9, Dec. 1912.
Then written by Mariette, "Granddad had 2 bros, 3 sister; Ben, Mary,Martha and Matilda.
Alferd R. Bobbitt died when he was 85 years old.
