Caleb Bobbitt was a Lieutenant in the 1st Batt. of the Militia of the state of Virginia.
He fought in the war of 1812.
Caleb was born in Montgomery County, Virginia in the section which later became Grayson County .
The Old Bobbitt Cemetery is location is;
East of Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky on Rt. 80, turn North on to Rt. 461, then left on Coin Rd. then left on to Mark Welborn Rd. then Right on to Taylor Lane, follow this Lane keeping to the right until you dead end at a brick house. The Old Cemetery is in the woods to the left of the house about 75 yards. The old Cemetery is fenced off, but with a small opening you can walk through after you get across the barb wire fence next to the woods.
The Old Bobbitt Cemetery in Sept. 2000 was so overgrown with weeds and brush it was all but impossible to see.
This should be called the Old Caleb Bobbitt Cemetery.
The other Bobbitt cemetery in the area should be called the James L. Bobbitt Cem., it is referred to as the New Bobbitt Cemetery and is located;
East of Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky on Rt. 80, turn North on to Rt461, about 1-1/2 mile turn left onto Bobbit Cem. Rd.(spelling is correct). The cemetery can not be seen from Rt 4 61.
Bobbit Cem Rd in just across from the large factory on the left of Rt.461. and just beyond Coin Rd.
