Notes for THOMAS BOBBITT, SR.:
Thomas Bobbitt left Virginia around 1854 when he claimed the eighty acres of land awarded to him for his service in the war of 1812. He was 62 years old when he came to Ohio. All of his children were born in Pittsylvania Co. Virginia.
It seems that all of the children ended up in Clinton County, Ohio
After he secured his 80 Acres Thomas sent his son James W. back to Pittsylvania Co. Va., to bring his wife to their new home. Mildred Bobbitt was 62 years old at the time and rode horse back all the way to Snow Hill, Clinton County, Ohio, Snow Hill is about 2-3 miles North of New Vienna, Ohio, on Rt. 73.
