She was born 1826 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, and died October 08, 1865 in Nicholas County, West Virginia. He married (2) JANE GROVES HEROLD May 13, 1867 in Nicholas County, West Virginia, daughter of ALEXANDER GROVES and LYDIA GROVES. She was born 1840 in Nicholas County, West Virginia.

Notes for RUFUS WILLIAM BOBBITT:
Rufus Bobbitt's farm after his death was sold to his son Alexander, who lived on the home place for many years.
The large farm was near Nebo, Nicholas County, West Virginia, and the family cemetery was located on what is now Rt 19 just West of Nebo.
The old family cemetery was moved because of highway construction, but the monuments of the family and what could be found in the graves were moved to the Walker Cemetery in the town of Summersville, Nicholas County, West Virginia. This was about 1960.
At the time of the move the cemetery was called the Groves Cem.

When Mary Elizabeth Bobbitt died her Mother was living in Gallipolis,Ohio. The news was sent by a post rider and she was ask to come to the Bobbitt home to care for her grandchildren.
Matilda McCoy Williams was57 years old at the time. She rode on horseback, alone, on the Trip which took three days and nights. She stayed with the children until Rufus married Jane Hero Herold on May 13, 1867.
