Eli's 1st land purchase was August 7 1840 in Owen County, Indiana for 40 acres date of entry, could have been 6 months earlier. William Kerr purchased his land Oct 17, 1840 in Owen Co. Indiana. In 1843 Eli Carr sold his land to Amzi, his brother. In 1843 Elizabeth was still married to Eli as she signed off the land sale. Elizabeth must have died between 1843 and 1849. She probably died in IA. Eli's daughter Sara and William Mitchell were born in Lafayette Township, Owen Co. Indiana. John Kerr was administrator of his Father's estate. William Kerr died without a will. His wife Jane had one. There was a land dispute in 1852 between William Kerr heirs at law. his children and another man. William Kerr's heirs at law won the case.
