Hello
Mr. Bohn,
I
have received a copy of family history infomation from a newfound relative,
Robin Burton in Oak Hill, Ohio. I am
also a descendant of Robert and Elizabeth Jane King Donley. However, our dates
for them are not the same. Robert and
Elizabeth are buried in Blackfork, Ohio and the dates on their tombstones are
Robert: Aug 10, 1822 - April 17 1899.
Elizabeth:
Aug 13, 1821 - Dec 18, 1896. Roberts son - Samuel Montlemual Donley was my great
grandfather, and his son Samuel Syrus was my grandfather. Samuel Montlemual lived his last years with a
son Chester Donley in Firebrick, Ohio - where Robert and Nancy raised their
children (and in the same house). It was
Chester who put the stones on the gravesites (my cousin was with him at the
time), using the birthdates told to him by Samuel M. (Roberts son). Your note says that Samuel may have been a
Civil War Veteran. He was not. He was born on March 26, 1847. He married Nancy Smith on July 7, 1868. His birthdate is correct in your info and he
is buried at South Webster Ohio cemetery in Scioto County. Your James MINFORD birthdate does not match mine either - as I have Apr 12, 1851. - but
the marriage date matches. The first child of Robert and Elizabeth was Marry
Ann: born Mar 24, 1843 - and she married William Diles. Hannah Jane (our birthdate match) married
Samuel Hennegar. Sarah M. was born March 5, 1849, and married John Farmer. I have Isabella the same :
Aug 20, 1853 as birthdate - no death date and don't have a spouse.. The next child was Henrietta Donley born Jan
1, 1856 - she married Jesse Hennegar. Elizabeth was the eighth child -born Apr
16, 1858 and was never married - though she had four children. Her daughter Rebecca Donley married Frank
Reed and their daughter Golda is the grandmother of your most recent contact;
Robin Burton (our mutual contact). Their
9th child was Robert: born Sept 19, 1860, and the 10th and last child was
William J. born Feb 25, 1862 - and he married Laura Mathews on March 14, 1887.
They did not have a son named Jesse --- I don't believe - because thi
information came from Samuel Montlemual Donley's family bible. Robin's grandmother Golda remembers a lot of
these people as a child - or rather the cousins. She will soon be 97 and has an excellent
memory. It was a pleasure to meet
her.
Well,
this seems to be enough for the time being.
I
would like to give you the email of Carolyn Riffle, who contacted me last year
from Texas, and came to our Donley Reunion this summer. She is also a descendant of James and
Sabina. She will be happy to hear from
you.
Blessing,
Kay
