Picture taken probably in Ashe County, North Carolina abt. 1900. John was the son of Frederick and Susannah Patrick Severt. He was born 1841 and died 1924. He lived and died in Ashe Co., North Carolina. He was a Civil War veteran. Co. A 37th Regiment of the N.C. troops. Wounded in the head on July 1863. Captured near Petersburg, Va. June 22, 1864. He was married to Susan Mash of Ashe Co., N.C.
