Haine is the village where our immigrant Johann Heinrich Bohland (John H. Boland) was born on June 02, 1755. He came to America as a Hessian Soldier in July 1776. In late 1778 or early 1779 he deserted his troops and joined the South Carolina Militia as a Forager. He settled in the Dutch Fork of South Carolina and raised a large family. His descendants now reach from South Carolina to the Pacific Coast.
