According to the Hamer book in Ernest Pope Boland's possession, Billy had a son named Nolon.
Sarah Jane "Sallie" Anthony wrote about him in a letter she sent to the compiler of the Hamer book.
In his latter years, Billy lived in Columbus with Nolon.[John Hamer Bladen County, N.C..FTW]
Uncle Billy was wounded in both legs during the Civil War. He also lost the sight in one eye, and had a lot of trouble from these wounds the rest of his life. He applied for a pension in 1903 and received it. He received his pension from the State of Georgia through the year of 1907, and I guess until his death in 1930.
