Notes for I
NSUK JO:
InSuk Jo's mother died when she was around 5 years old. Her father was unable to care for her and she ended up in an orphanage. She was adopted from the Korean orphanage by a Naval serviceman and his wife. She was approximately 10 years old at the time. They changed her name to Peggy Wilson, gave her a new birthday (June 20, 1958) and lowered her age.

The Wilson's marriage fell apart shortly after they moved back to the United States and InSuk spent much of her remaining childhood years at St. Peter's Home for Children, and as a foster child of Doris and Mitchell Pang in Memphis, TN. She started college at age 16 and over the next couple of years reclaimed her Korean name, InSuk Jo, and became a naturalized US Citizen. After college graduation, she joined the US Army and spent a year in Korea as a US soldier during which time she searched, unsuccessfully, for her Korean family. InSuk has written extensively of her early life and hopes to publish the work in the near future.

Marriage Notes for D
AVID GRANHOLM and INSUK JO:
InSuk and David were in the same US Army company while attending a military signal school course to be "Technical Controllers". On their first date, they double-dated with another couple and went to eat dinner at a Chinese restaurant. The other girl in the foursome spent the entire date complaining about everything and saying how much she disliked the Chinese food.... as InSuk and David sat staring into each other's eyes.

David had orders for Germany and InSuk had orders for Korea. Shortly before they parted, David borrowed a couple of hundred bucks from his sister Carol and bought an engagement ring for InSuk. The lovesick couple spent most of the next year writing daily loveletters and phoning weekly between Germany and Korea. The long-distance romance worked!

InSuk and David were married at the Korean Red Cross building in Seoul, Korea by an Army Chaplin. Both were active US Army soldiers at the time with InSuk being stationed in Seoul and David stationed in Augsburg, Germany. David flew to Korea for the wedding and the happy couple honeymooned in Hong Kong. A couple of months later, InSuk completed her tour of Korea and transferred to Germany where she and David moved into their first home in the small German village of Bonstetten.

Notes for C
AROL JEAN GRANHOLM:

The family history would be missing a key point of fact if we failed to mention that Carol was lovingly called "Velvee" as a young child by her brother Jeff (Paul Jeffrey). Why? (He couldn't say "Carol")

Notes for R
ODNEY MELTON LANG:

Hi, [.... a note to Dave Granholm from his sister Carol Lang.]

Rod's Mom's name was: Frances Illene (Huntoon) (Lang) Heidenfelder(sp?) 12-11-20, death 4-87 (maybe born in Denver) her father -Montford
dad Melton Henry Lang (years older than Fran - probably Oklahoma)
death around 1966 - his father's name was Henry Melton
sister Sandra Lynn (lang) (McCaw) (Adams) Peake, 8-47 ?
sis Cheryl Ann (Lang) Vidlak 8-27-49 (could be 1950)
sis Nancy Illene (ILLENE) Lorraine (Lang) Beck 9-1-58
brother Donald Ray Lang 12-50 (could be 1951)
brother deceased Montford Blynn Lang dob 57 death 86 seems wrong I
thought he was younger when he died
half sister the dad had a daughter before Sandy was born that
Sandy found out about when she was searching their tree about 10 years ago - no one was interested in pursuing contact - although I believe Sandy did have some contact.
Rod's dad had 8 brothers - all originated somewhere around OK (Chickasaw maybe) His mom had a sister named Alice, and at least 2 brothers maybe George and Al. I know his mom used a lot of family names when naming the kids. There was also talk of Indian blood somewhere back there - Cheryl always
said they were 1/4 Indian. Another story I like because Fran had a journal that her mother wrote as a young woman, and I got to read it: Her mother came from an educated somewhat weathy family and after high school lived with a doctor and wife in a different city. She was a house nurse/maid for keep while she was in some sort of college classes. That was when she met Montford who courted her and she played hard to get. Oh and lastly - Mrs Lang told me of Rod's descent once - some mix of - Irish, German, Penn Dutch, Swede and a couple more things.
- Talk to you later, Carol
