 Includes NotesNotes for Valdemar Grønholm:
Valdemar Grønholm, Julius' brother, was a machinery engineer and worked on freightships. He traveled to both the east and west coasts of the United States and is known to have attempted contact with his brother Julius on 4 of the visits. (Between 1914 - 1918). He was unsuccessful in his attempts. In 1918, during WWI, the ship Valdemar was on, went down at sea. Valedmar's name is inscribed on a war memorial in Copenhagen.

Valdemar had a son named after him. (His son, Valdemar Grønholm, gave this information at age 80.) As it turned out, he also had a nephew named after him.
That nephew, Walter Granholm, "Americanized" his Danish name to Walter. The Danish Valdemar and the American Valdemar did not know of one another until this writing in May of 1999. As if a testimonial to the times, Walter and Valdemar made their first contact with each other via Internet email in 1999.
