| I have been lucky enough to research my husband's family and have discovered some wonderful historical connections regarding the BOLYEN family. The first family member to arrive in America was Deacon Samuel BULLEN. I have learned who, when and why the name was changed from its previous incarnations of BULLEN and BOLEYN to the name BOLYEN. Believe it or not a member of our family was tired of BULLEN or BOLEYN being mispronounced and misspelled and so David BULLEN (b.1790) became David BOLYEN. He is the only known BULLEN to have taken on this spelling at the time. Thus far I have traced the family back to England and 1591. I will continue my journey into the past and update this site with information and verification as often as possible.
