       4. Eli2 Boon (Thomas1) was born December 1812, and died 20 October 1893 in Nash Co., NC. He married Nancy Johnson 30 November 1837 in Edgecombe Co., NC.

Notes for Eli Boon:
First shows in 1840 census living in Edgecomb Co., age 20-30. Has wife 15-20 years old and daughter <5 years old.

Shows up twice in 1850 census! Once is next door to Thomas, other is at end of enumerator listing. First occupation is turpentine, second is cooper. Children are the same but slightly different ages.

1860 census back in Edgecomb Co. Five children still living with him.

1870 census still in Edgecomb Co. Ellen and Wright are gone, but the rest are still living with him including some grandkids.

1880 census has him in Rocky Mt Twp, Nash Co. Mary and Celia still living with him, and five grandkids.

Gravesite near Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport, spelled Elie Boone, Dec 1812 - Oct 20, 1893. Next to him is daughter Celie Boone, 1819 - May __, 1912.

Notes for Nancy Johnson:
Shows up in 1840 census at 15-20 years old, in Edgecomb Co. Died by the 1850 census.

According to C.C. Narron, she is Eli's second wife.

       Children of Eli Boon and Nancy Johnson are:

  12 i.   Mary3 Boon, born 9 January 1839; died March 1930 in Nash Co., NC. She married _____ Swane.

  Notes for Mary Boon:
According to C.C. Narron, Mary never had any children.
May have been born in 1834, but I had trouble reading the last digit on the tombstone.

  13 ii.   Wright E. Boon, born Abt. 1841; died Abt. 14 December 1861 in Union Hill, VA.

  Notes for Wright E. Boon:
In the 1860 census, he was 18 and still living with his father.

Private, Company G, 5th Regiment NC State Troops. Enlisted in Wilson Co., NC, at age 19 on June 4, 1861 for the war. Died in hospital at Union Hill, VA on or about December 14, 1861. Cause of death not reported.

+ 14 iii.   Edith J. Boon, born Abt. 1844; died Aft. 1870 in Prob Nash Co., NC.

  15 iv.   Ellen Boon, born Abt. 1845.

+ 16 v.   Celia Boon, born 1848-1849; died May 1912 in Nash Co., NC.
       6. Joshua Lawrence2 Boon (Thomas1) was born 19 January 1814, and died 11 March 1885 in Rocky Mount, NC. He married Easter Gay 23 October 1837 in Edgecombe Co., NC.

+ 17 i.   Lindsey3 Boone, born 19 September 1850; died 11 November 1916 in Rocky Mount, Nash Co., NC.
       11. Joseph H.2 Boon (Thomas1) was born Abt. 1831 in Nash Co., NC, and died 10 January 1863 in Lynchburg, VA. He married Roweney Baker 3 February 1852 in Nash Co., NC, daughter of Duncan Baker and Zilpha Poulin.

Notes for Joseph H. Boon:
First appears in 1850 census as a 19 year old "laborer" on the Thomas Viverett farm six doors down from Thomas Boon.

NC Troops 1861-1865, A Roster, by Weymouth T Jordan, Jr., Vol VIII Infantry. 30th Regiment, Company I. "Bone (sic), Joseph H., Private. Born in Nash Co. where he enlisted 4 March 1862. Present or accounted for until he died at Lynchburg, VA on or about 10 January 1863 of 'epilepsy.'"

Burried in row 4-2, Confederate Cemetery, Lynchburg, VA.
