Find Family

* Boon family of Eastern VA and NC*

Updated September 5, 2000

I am researching the Boon family of Isle of Wight and Southampton counties in Virginia and Northampton, Halifax, Edgecombe, Nash and Franklin counties in North Carolina.
My particular problem right now is my ggg-grandfather Thomas Boon, born in VA circa 1765. He appears in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 Edgecombe Co., NC censuses and the 1840 and 1850 Nash Co., NC censuses. He married Verily Jackson on 24 December 1832 in Nash Co. She was his second or third wife and they had no children. His previous wife, my ggg-grandmother, had at least nine children, seven of which I have identified, the youngest of which, Joseph H. Boon, is my gg-grandfather. I suspect that Thomas Boon was part of the family that moved from IOW Co., VA to Northampton Co., NC but cannot make a definite link.

I am fimiliar with the Boon book by Rupert Farnham Thompson, have plotted it in FTM, and guess my Thomas is off of one of Thompson's dead ends.

Any information would be welcome. If you are searching these areas too, I am more than happy to share what I know.
