I am researching several family lines:

The American ROUT family originated with Richard Clark ROUT who was born in London, Holborn, St. Andrews, England, 14 Mar 1824. He came to America around 1830 as a boy. He travelled with his father Thomas, older brother Thomas Jr., and sister Ellen. On 24 Dec 1871, in Adams Co, Illinois, Richard married Mary Ellen Barkley ZIMMERMAN, who was widowed from Orlando ZIMMERMAN. Mary had three boys with Orlando, and 7 more children with Richard. Richard and Mary eventually settled in Salida Colorado and both died there. Richard's daughter Ruth Ann ROUT married Charles William WOODY 25 Oct 1894 in Salida, Colorado. They had 6 children, including my grandmother, Mary Caroline Clarissa WOODY, born 5 Sep 1910. Grandma married Gene Franklin RADCLIFFE, born 15 Dec 1906. They had two children, my Uncle, Robert Lawrence RADCLIFFE, and my mother, Ann Louise RADCLIFFE. Mom married Robert Hugh BOOKMYER, born 9 July 1934, San Francisco. Dad died 19 Aug 1996.

My maternal grandfather's family consists of Elizabeth Jane WALKER, born about 1860 in Cape Traverse, Prince Edward Island. She married Wallace Augustus WORTH, born about 1855 in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island. I don't know when or where they came to America. My great grandmother, Lora Ann WORTH married Ralph Loren RADCLIFFE 30 May 1905 in Lincoln, Nebraska, where my grandfather Gene RADCLIFFE was born.

My dad, Robert Hugh BOOKMYER was born Baby WILSON, but was adopted by Alvin and Lena BOOKMYER in 1936.The Native Sons and Native Daughters Central Committee on Homeless Children handled the adoption. I am still looking for his birth parents.

    My grandmother, Mary Caroline Clarissa Woody Radcliffe was named after her grandmother, Clarissa Henderson Woody!
  • Mary Ellen Barkley Rout (199 KB)
    Mary Ellen Barkley was married first to Orlando Zimmerman. They had three boys. After Zimmerman died during the Civil War, Mary Ellen married Richard Clark Rout.
  • Richard Clark Rout (124 KB)
    Richard Clark Rout was born in London, England. He may have come to America as a young boy. He married Margaret Jane VanZant in 1846, Mary A. Mills in 1859, and Mary Ellen Barkley Zimmerman in 1871. Mary and Richard settled in Salida, Colorado in 1894, with their 9 of their 10 children. Mary died a few months later in 1895.
