Alan Borkenhagen's FamilyUpdated June 8, 2001
We have been researching the various arms of the Borkenhagen Family which include Borkenhagen, Radatz, Allen and Stalter. We have searched federal censuses, social security, genealogy centers and vital statistics in Kenosha, Wi.; Madison, Wi.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Wilmington De. and various other sources. We know that Frederick Borkenhagen, along with 7 other men, drowned in Lake Michigan in 1878 while fishing on Henry Borkenhagen's boat. Don't know relationship of Henry to Frederick (brother, cousin, father, uncle?). He had wife Johanna and 8 children. Don't know where he came from in Germany. We are trying to find out his relationship to the Henry Borkenhagen who owned the fishing boat. In addition, the Radatz family came to America in 1881, sailing from Hamberg, Germany. I am looking for any information on them, their descendents, etc. I need information on the parents of Thomas Allen who married Charlotte Gedicke in Philadelphia on Sept. 5, 1878. They had several children - Louis Gedicke Allen, Isaac Allen, Thomas William Allen and Herbert Thomas Allen. I have an idea he was from New Jersey but am not able to confirm it, Any information would be appreciated. I will also share any information that I have.
