Dedication

This book is dedicated to my father and mother, who raised me to appreciate my heritage. My father always wanted to find his ancestors and had started the work many years before I began. When I started to get interested in doing genealogy, he gathered all the information he could on his family. When Dad was in his early twenties, he had made a pedigree chart on the family, but it had gotten lost. Starting in 1980, Dad wrote to members of his family and received letters on the Bostwick and Lamp family line. After talking with him in 1990, we decided to go ahead and publish a book on the Bostwick and Lamp family lines. Dad became terminally ill and passed away on June 23, 1991, not having seen our work completed. My brother Gene and I continued to get information for the book. I received a large amount of mail from many family members during 1991-93. At the 1993 Bostwick Family Reunion in Sebring, Ohio, I announced that the book would be published early the following year and got orders from those who wanted copies. For those who were not there, I wrote to them and received more orders. I made electronic copies of the book and sent them to Gene, who had them printed, wrapped and shipped to all our customers. The feedback was mostly positive to the point where I was honored with a plack of appreciation at the 1994 reunion. My real joy came from knowing that we had been able to make Dad's dream come to pass of finding our roots with one exception, which still exists. My great-grandfather Bostwick's parents are yet unknown, but in time I feel this mystery will also be solved.
