From Sally Sands: Richard Bodkin was patented 339 acres on Clover Creek, which I assume is in Highland Co., VA. or Pendleton Co. W. VA. These acres are now commonly called Bullpasture, a branch of Cowpasture, This became the family homestead. (Patented in 1743)

From Don Norman: Richard Botkin was born in 1710. He married Elizabeth ?. She was born in 1712.

In 1743, Richard Botkin was patented 339 acres on Clover Creek, now commonly called Bullpasture, a branch of Cowpasture river. He was add to the List of Tithables of Augusta County, VA September 1, 1750.

Inhabitants of Bullpasture and heads of Cowpasture petitioned for a road from Wales Asterns mill to road on head of Cowpasture. Richard, one of signers. 1751.

On 5-28-1751, a road was ordered to be cleared and kept in repair on the Cowpasture by Richard Bodkin and others.

Richard Bodkin on 8-11-1756, muster roll of Captain. George Wilson's Company of VA militia as a private.

Richard mentioned in 1756 Augusta Co. Parish Vestry Book.

From Don Norman: Hugh Bodkin, a son of Richard and Elizabeth Botkin, was born in Augusta County VA in 1736 and died in Knox County TN. He married Hester Farmer. Hester was born in Augusta County VA in 1740 and died in Knox County TN.

On March 21, 1780, Hugh was allowed 50 acres for his service in 1758 in Captain. Preston's Company of rangers. Hugh Botkin in Revolutionary War in Captain. Hulls company of Augusta County militia.

Hugh's will is dated September 1801 and is on file in Knox County, TN.
