Charley Williams (1868-1931) is my great-grandfather. His father was Samuel Williams, appeared on 1880 Obion Co, TN Census. I have been unable to find Samuel Williams ancestory. Charley had a brother named George; George & Charley married sisters and settled in Dyer Co, TN. Their sister, Anna Williams married James A Yarbrough. Researching the Williams ancestory line has proved to be the most difficult and if anyone could help, it would be most appreciated.
William Longbottom is the oldest record of my Bottoms ancestors. The first recorded mention of William is March 13, 1724. He purchased 70 acres bounded by Meadow Branch of the Racoon Swamp on the south side of Nottoway River. While the land
was in Surry County at the time of purchase, it is part of present day Sussex County. The Longbottoms resided in this general area for at least 75 years of the 18th century.
William Longbottom's grandson John/Jones Longbottom changed his name to John Jones L. Bottom and then his children added the S making it Bottoms.
Christopher Long born abt 1775 NC (died Jackson Co, TN) is my g-g-g-g-grandfather. Christopher's son is Phillip and his son is William Manning Long (1843 TN - 1917 Livingston Co, KY) who is my maternal great great grandfather who married Nancy Elizabeth ( McCoin?) and both are buried at Smithland Cemetery, Livingston County, KY. Thomas P. (Tom) Long, my maternal great grandfather and his brother Lafe (Lafayette) Long moved from KY to Dyer Co., TN around 1907.
Thomas B. Short is my mother's great grandfather. Thomas
was born abt 1797 in VA. Married Eleanor who was born in KY.
Thomas & Eleanor was in Wayne Co, TN on 1850 census. By 1900
the family was in Dyer Co, TN. Thomas & Eleanor's children:
James, Joseph, Alfred, Ethelinda & LeRoy Short.
Marvil H Hill, Sr born abt 1777 in NC married Mary Polly Morris and they purchased land in Franklin Co, TN in 1816 but their oldest daughter is shown on census to be born in TN around
1808. They appear on the 1840 Caldwell Co, KY census and both died in Lyon Co, KY. This the Land Between the Lakes area where
some his descendants live to this day. His grandson James W Hill
married Ellen McKinney in 1874 Lyon Co, KY. Around 1900 James Hill's family began migrating to Dyer Co, TN. Some believe Marvel's middle initial is "N."

Bottoms/Bottom Longbottom, Bryant, Goza, Flusher, James, Nolan, Waller, Phelan, Pleasant, Pardenberry, Swailes, Rankin, Moore, Halliburton and others.

January 29, 1934 in Tennemo, Dyer Co, TN. He married Ellen McKinney in Lyon Co, KY on 1874.
